Ian Southern BSc MRCVS
Ian graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science degree from University of Pretoria in 1984. After gaining experience in a practice in Johannesburg and completing a Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of South Africa, Ian decided to start his own practice. He established The Avenues Veterinary Clinic east of Johannesburg which grew from a small one-vet practice to a large five-vet practice over the 21 years that he owned it. The success of the practice was driven by the philosophy of “Compassionate Care”. In 2016 Ian sold his practice and he and his wife, Bev, emigrated to the UK for their next adventure. Ian has taken on the role of clinical director here at Brook House Vets, where he brings his wealth of knowledge and experience to us in Southampton.
Emilie Callaghan BSc MSc MRCVS
Originally from Belgium, Emilie completed her veterinary training at Ghent University and moved to the UK after graduation because she had always wanted to start her career here. She grew up with dogs, cats and horses, and has continued her passion for these animals into a career in veterinary medicine. Emilie currently owns a cat, George Gonzola, of whom she adopted as a stray brought in to the practice. You may see him wondering around as he comes to work with her most days. She also has a dog called Baloo, a black and white German wirehaired Pointer. He still lives with Emilie’s mother as he is best friends with her dog and they can’t be separated. Her main interests are companion animals, especially internal medicine and imaging. Emilie hopes to further her knowledge in these fields so she can continue to take the best of care of your family members.
